This is a detail of my latest sculpture: PASSAGE TO THE OTHER WORLD

Very welcome to my website.
It is over 40 years ago when I started my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. The study course was called free and functional ceramics.
I dedicated my time to sculptures and installations, running through many different periods of trial and error, still remaining a tireless discoverer. There is hardly any technique I skipped. Being into this field of arts means exploring an expanding universe and sometimes being inundated by overflowing inspirations.
Overflowing has litterally become a theme in my artistic ceramic work since 2022. Water being the element which I feel very much drawn to, might have inspired me to create surfaces by using glass – not glaze – running down after reaching its fusing temperatute and reacting with a glazed surface. This is why I started to develop architectural sculptures as specific setups for optimizing this process. Therefore since 2022 I am experimenting in this field, observing the results and navigating myself through the innumerable possible decisions I could make. There is a specific shape of the body to my latest sculpures, which plays an important part. Based on a groundplan, made up of a stretched rectangle with two apsides, the arising shape is symmetrical and horizontal. This type of body mediates resistance and solidity. It is unshakeable and reliable. There is also a silence to it. This aspect is very important to me. It seems to absorb noise or to even repel it.
Some sculptures are purely conceptual, some are tuned by a certain poetic input. These two working periods alternate. I do not walk on a straight line.
PLEASE NOTE THAT I PUT MY HOUSE ON SALE (Header: My house on sale)
CHANGES ARE GOING ON. I HAVE TO SPEND TIME ORGANIZING A NEW LIFE.
